Durham CCC’s Paul Collingwood was awarded Performance of the Year for his double hundred for England against Australia in Adelaide earlier in the year, although he was unable to collect his award as he is currently in Sri Lanka with the England Team. North East cricket supporters will be able to see him lead the England side at the Riverside twice in 2008 when they face New Zealand in a NatWest Series One Day International on Sunday 15 June and when they play South Africa in a NatWest International Twenty20 on Wednesday 20 August.
The winners were selected by a select panel of judges chaired by North East Sports Legend Steve Cram earlier in the month.
Durham County Cricket Club Chief Executive, David Harker, said, “It is great for the Club’s achievements to be recognised alongside those regional sports people that have performed so well this year. Team of the Year is a great accolade and it is a proud addition to our trophy cabinet.”
Tickets for the international fixtures at the Riverside are on sale with prices from £10 for juniors and £35 for adults.
The domestic cricket season starts on Sunday 20 April when Durham Dynamos take on Yorkshire Phoenix in their first match defending the Friends Provident Trophy. The best value way to catch all the action from the Team of the Year is to purchase Membership. Junior Membership is priced at just £35, while adult Membership is only £140 for up to 43 days cricket.
