Durham Confirm Local Seam Attack for 2009

A product of the Durham Academy, which he joined in 2001, Graham moved through the ranks to make his first class debut against Durham UCCE in 2004.  Graham was called into the England One Day side in 2006.  Since his England debut he has been named in the England Performance Programme (EPP) squad and toured India with the England Lions in early 2008.

This season Graham was selected as a ‘One to Watch’ in the Friends Provident Trophy by Mike Gatting and represented the MCC when they played Sussex at Lord’s earlier this year.

Durham County Cricket Club Head Coach, Geoff Cook, said, “We are really pleased that Graham has chosen to stay with us especially after a lot of interest from other counties.  He is one of the most promising young bowlers in the country and I’m sure he will continue to be a great asset to our team.  To be able to boast an effective bowling attack made up of local lads, which include Liam Plunkett and Mark Davies, reflects well on the area.”

On signing his new contract, Graham Onions, said, “I’m delighted to be staying at Durham, I love playing for the Club and the decision to stay was an easy one to make.  It’s been a great environment for me to develop my game and the set up here has been great for me over the years.  The team is definitely going in the right direction and I want to be able to play a major part in the Club’s continued success.”
