Collingwood looks to make t20 impact

.“I’m feeling good, everything’s been going well, my knee op and the rehab.

“I’ve probably not had a break like this for ten years to be honest so my batteries are re-charged and my enthusiasm for the game is back. It’s been great getting back into the nets and I can’t wait to get back out in the middle.

“It’s been six years since I’ve had a long stretch with Durham so I’m looking forward to it. The break has revitalised me, definitely mentally, and I’m excited to start hitting more balls and get back in to the form I know I can get into.

“When you’re coming back in for one off games it can be difficult for both parties if I’m honest but to be able to contribute, game in, game out, on a good stretch is going to be vital and I think that’s when you’re able to make more of an impact in the dressing room and on the field too.

“I’m concentrating on doing well for Durham, we’ve got a great stretch of t20 ahead of us which is exciting and a great form of the game to bring the crowds in so I’m looking forward to hopefully putting some big performances in.

“I’ve seen David Miller in action on TV, he looks like he’s a big hitter and is good in the field so I’m sure he’ll add plenty to our batting line up too. I’m looking forward to him arriving.

“We’ve got the talent at the club, we know that, and I believe we’ve got the skills as well. I guess it’s a case of putting it all together in one package and getting all three disciplines right in one game.  We’ve discussed it a lot in the dressing room and all the guys are looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a hard shift from four day cricket one day to t20 cricket the next but it’s a mental shift the lads are capable of making.

“I’m very much focussed on the job in hand, which is winning games for Durham. If I get in good form I could get a chance with England again but whatever happens from now on I’ve been very privileged to have played for England for the amount for the amount of time that I have.  If I don’t play for them again then it’s been a great career but I’ve certainly got the ambition to still play for them.  I still think I’ve got a lot to give.”
