A touring party of 13 players and two coaches will travel on 20 January and spend ten days in the UAE while they participate in the tournament which takes place at the ICC Global Cricket Academy. The squad will play in four group games as they try to go one step ahead of last year’s group, who were runners up.
Durham Academy Coach, John Windows, said, “It’s fantastic that we’ve been invited to take part in the Gulf Cup again. The lads always do a tremendous job representing the Club out there and to be in a position to offer another group the opportunity to participate in an overseas tour is real testament to the generous support we receive from the parents, the Durham Youth Trust and our sponsor, Ebac.
“The trip gives the U15’s the chance to experience in alternative conditions to the UK and has proved to be a real factor in helping the youngsters develop their game and their confidence.”
Durham TV spoke to three of the youngsters, who were filmed doing their first ever interviews, about their preparations for the trip and their targets while they’re over there so keep an eye out for that!
