An excellent all-round team performance saw Durham claim their second Friends Life t20 victory of the summer under the floodlights at Derby
Scott Borthwick, Liam Plunkett and Mitchell Claydon all chipped in with two wickets to restrict hosts Derbyshire, who had elected to bat first, to 141 for six.
Herschelle Gibbs and Johann Myburgh then contributed 38 and 46 respectively to Durham’s run-chase before Gordon Muchall put the finishing touches to a five-wicket win, completed with seven balls to spare.
Borthwick was the pick of Durham’s attack as they battled their way to a five-wicket victory over Derbyshire.
Borthwick, who was awarded Man of the Match, said, “It was a nice pitch to bowl leg spin on, there was a bit of spin and a bit of bounce, and I think we bowled and fielded well. The partnership between Gibbs and Myburgh definitely helped us get over the line.
“We’ve played three and won two and after tonight’s win it definitely gives us a lot more confidence going into our game against Yorkshire on Friday at Emirates Durham.”
