Durham Second XI have defeated Warwickshire in their 40 over match at Maiden Castle yesterday.
Durham posted a superb total of 244-6 off their 40 overs with several posting good scores. The Durham innings was highlighted by Gordon Muchall’s 69 and Callum Thorp’s 46no from just 16 balls, his knock including 2 fours and five sixes! Captain Usman Arshad also impressive with the bat making 44 whilst Jack Clarke made 23.
Durham backed up their efforts with the bat to restrict Warwickshire’s scoring opportunities in their innings. At 149-5 with 9 overs to go the run rate was too high for Warwickshire and the Durham bowlers claimed the final five wickets to bowl them out for 183.
Spinner Max Morley was at his best taking 4-25 whilst Ryan Pringle and Keaton Jennings took 2 wickets as Durham came away with a 61 run win.
The two sides will now meet in a three day match at Maiden Castle from Wednesday-Friday and we will be posting scores on Twitter.
