International Action Returns to Emirates Durham

The International action returns to Emirates Durham ICG this Saturday August 31st when Durham plays host to International t20 fixtures between England and Australia.

Just three weeks after England retained the Ashes at Emirates Durham ICG, in its first ever Ashes Test Match, the action will return to the North East, this time the big hitting entertainment of  Natwest International T20s.

Fans will be in for double the big hits with the ground hosting both men’s and women’s fixtures in what is set to be a blockbuster summer’s day.

After going down to New Zealand in their t20 series prior to the Investec  Ashes series, the England men’s side will be looking to rebound in the shorter format and replicate the success of the Test side against the Australians.

They will come to Durham for the 2nd Natwest T20 after the first match of the series is played on Thursday evening at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton with the second match of the series getting underway at 2.30pm at Emirates Durham on the Saturday.

Durham Ashes Test hero Stuart Broad will Captain the England side which includes players with International experience alongside those standouts from the Friends Life t20 competition who have pushed their way into national colours.

Big hitters Michael Lumb, Luke Wright and Alex Hales have all been included and will headline the England batting line-up.

With there being only eight International t20 matches until next year’s ICC World T20, which will be held in Bangladesh in March/April 2014, players will be looking to impress.

The Australian team will be led by George Bailey with their side also including some prolific big hitters including Shane Watson, David Warner, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.

The women’s match preluding the men’s fixture and starting at 10.00am is the third t20 match in the Women’s Ashes series following on from one Test match and three One Day International matches.

With the series currently in England’s favour 2-1 going into the three T20 fixtures, the Women’s Ashes could potentially be won at Durham, meaning further history being made at Emirates Durham after the success of the recent Investec Ashes Test Match.
