Yorkshire show fight on Day 3

Yorkshire have calmed the storm this afternoon at Scarborough in their second innings after a wicket-fest morning session saw Durham enforce them to follow on.

Durham had a superb start to Day 3 at Scarborough where they ripped through the home-sides batting line-up before lunch.

Ben Stokes started the day off claiming the big wicket of Kane Williamson for 84 and then Ballance was run out the next ball courtesy of a nice bit of fielding from Rushworth.

Three overs later Jamie Harrison claimed his second of the innings as Rashid edged to Mustard for 1.

England Ashes Test Team member Jonny Bairstow looked good at the crease and appeared to be on his way to a century until Scott Borthwick got his wicket with a catch off his own bowling dismissing the Yorkshire keeper for 82.

Mark Wood then claimed two wickets in two balls bowling out both Plunkett (10) and Patterson (0) leaving Yorkshire nine wickets down.

Stokes then got his second of the morning as last man in Sidebotom knicked another catch to Mustard, Yorkshire all out for 274, 299 runs behind Durham’s first innings.

The follow on was enforced and Chris Rushworth got Durham off to a good start claiming the wicket of Lyth lbw for 10 and Yorkshire were 19-1.

From then on it was Yorkshire’s afternoon with Phil Jaques and Kane Williamson taking a liking to the Durham attack, frustrating them and compiling a 257  run stand.

Jaques had all the shots and finished unbeaten on 151 whilst Williamson finished on 90no to have Yorkshire 276-1 at stumps, trailing by just 23 runs, setting up an interesting Day 4.
