Rocky Signs on!

Durham County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Opening Batsmen Mark Stoneman has signed a contract extension with the Club until the end of the 2016 season.

Local lad and Academy graduate, Stoneman made his Durham First Class debut against Sussex in 2007 at Horsham. And it was later that season he registered his first century for the Club.

Being part of both the 2008 and the 2009 Championship winning sides, Stoneman then cemented his place in the Durham side opening the batting alongside Club legend Michael Di Venuto. And in 2012 it was his performances in the limited overs form of the game that really caught the eye, earning him the accolade of 2012 Batsmen of the Year.

2013 turned out to be the most memorable year of Stoneman’s Durham career as he scored 1068 runs and following the season ending shoulder injury suffered by Dale Benkenstein, Mark stepped up to Captain the side in the Yorkshire Bank 40 and also Captained the side LV= County Championship, when Skipper Paul Collingwood was injured.

A vital cog in Durhams 2013 LV=County Championship season Mark is now a senior player at the Club and will be looking to build on his first 1000-run first class season and bring further glory to Emirates Durham ICG over the next three years.
