Clark drafted into squad for Headingley visit

Graham Clark has been drafted in to a 12-man squad travelling to Headingley to face Yorkshire in the Specsavers County Championship tomorrow (10:30am start).

The 23-year-old comes in to bolster Jon Lewis’ options with the bat after a blistering return for the Second XI against MCC Unis.

After hitting 91 in the first innings, Clark scored 56 not out from just 19 balls in the second innings – including hitting the final four balls for consecutive sixes.

It was only his second game back after sustaining a broken thumb earlier in the summer.

Usman Arshad is also included in the squad after scoring a hundred and taking nine wickets in the same fixture.

He was originally included in the squad for last week’s draw with Nottinghamshire, only to sustain an injury in training and be subsequently ruled out.

Paul Coughlin has been omitted from the squad as the medical staff continue to manage his workload ahead of the final two games of the season against Surrey and Hampshire.

The all-rounder will instead play for the Second XI as a batsman only.

Durham are seventh in the table with a game in hand on others around them as they seek victory over a Yorkshire side chasing a third consecutive Championship title.

Match updates will be on our Twitter page (@DurhamCricket) with live commentary available via the BBC Sport website.
