Stokes & Wood rewarded with England contracts

Durham stars Mark Wood and Ben Stokes have been rewarded with central contracts by the ECB.

Under a revised contract system, Stokes is one of four players to be handed both a Test and White Ball contracts.

Wood, who has been ruled out of the tour to Bangladesh with an ankle injury, has been granted a Test contract.

Under the new system, Test specialists and those playing in all forms of the game will have their salaries paid in full by the ECB and those on White Ball contracts will receive their supplement on top of their County salary.

Players in both formats will receive a ‘ranking’ based on their performances on the pitch, as well as a number of other factors, including off-field contribution, fielding and fitness. Those rankings will then correlate with the players’ level of remuneration.
