Collingwood awarded testimonial in 2017

Durham County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Paul Collingwood has been awarded a testimonial in 2017.

The 40-year-old former England international has represented Durham in 22 of their 25 years in professional cricket and has amassed 280 first-class appearances.

In his 191st first-class game for Durham, the most of any player to have represented the county, Collingwood notched his 22nd century to move ahead of Dale Benkenstein in hundreds scored for Durham.

“I am thrilled that the club has offered me a testimonial for 2017,” Collingwood said.

“To be recognised by my home county supporters for service over the years is an honour and I’m already looking forward to 2017.

“I have enjoyed some amazing moments with the club, including the 2013 County Championship title win as well as captaining the team during this year’s NatWest T20 Blast Final at Edgbaston.

“I look forward to an exciting challenge and hope to make some announcements for events early in the new year.”

As well as captaining Durham to a County Championship title in 2013, the Shotley Bridge man has also won three Ashes series and featured in 68 Test matches for England, scoring over 4,000 runs.

Collingwood is the only man to lift a limited-overs trophy for England, captaining them to victory in the ICC World T20 tournament in 2010, and has the most One-Day International caps (197) for his country alongside 35 T20i appearances.

On top of all of those exceptional accolades, he was also named as one of the prestigious Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2007 alongside fellow England player Monty Panesar.

Durham County Cricket Club Chief Executive, David Harker added: “Paul has been a stalwart of the club and I am delighted that he is to have a testimonial.

“It is recognition for his sterling service and dedication to the club over a distinguished career in the game.

“We wish him all the best for his testimonial year and hope our members & supporters can get support him in events throughout 2017.”
