McCarthy made his international bow last year and impressed enough to be awarded the Emerging Player of the Year award last month.
He made his debut against Sri Lanka earlier in the summer and featured in eight One-Day internationals, taking 18 wickets with a best of 4/59 against Afghanistan.
It follows a profitable year at county level, where he took 20 first-class wickets in his maiden full season at first team level.
