Wood, Jennings to play in North/South game

Keaton Jennings will captain a North side containing Mark Wood in the inaugural North vs Series series in the UAE next year.

It is the latest stage in Wood’s comeback from injury while Jennings gets another chance to impress the England selectors, having already captained the Lions successfully in two One-Day games.

The series, played over three games in late March, is a chance for players to impress the England selectors.

The squads consists of four players on each side who qualified via the PCA MVP rankings for this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup, with the rest made up from the England selectors.

England selector, James Whitaker, said: “For all the players selected, the North versus South series is a platform to make an impression.

“We see it as an important addition to our selection process in 50-over cricket, ahead of the two major global events we are staging over the next three summers – the Champions Trophy next year, and the World Cup in 2019.”
