Unchanged squad named for Worcestershire

Durham head coach Jon Lewis has named an unchanged 13-man squad for tomorrow’s crunch Royal London One-Day Cup clash against the Worcestershire Rapids (11am start).

Second take on third at New Road and with just three qualification places in this year’s competition available from the North Group, the winner will move a huge step closer to reaching the quarter-final stage.

Lewis’ men are two points behind the Rapids, having started the competition on minus two, but come into this off the back of a remarkable chase against the Notts Outlaws.

From a position of 8/2 chasing 298, career-best performances by Graham Clark & Cameron Steel kept Durham in it before Paul Collingwood combined with the lower order to see it home with five balls to spare.

Worcestershire are also on a high after yesterday’s rain-affected chase of 241 from 34 overs against neighbours Warwickshire, with ex-Durham favourite John Hastings contributing some big blows in making 36.

The playing XI from Thursday’s win at Trent Bridge are joined by George Harding & Gareth Harte, who could make his debut after signing a season-long contract on Wednesday.

Durham have claimed the spoils in six of the last seven meetings between the sides and have won the last three matches at New Road, though the Rapids did come away from Emirates Riverside with a win last season.

Play is due to start at 11am with live updates via the club’s Twitter account, while commentary is available via the BBC sport website.
