Cook returns for must-win Lightning clash

Stephen Cook returns to a 13-man squad for tomorrow’s must-win fixture against the Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Riverside (2pm start).

The opening batsman has landed back from South Africa, where he was called back for committments as part of his central contract with CSA.

Cook’s return is one of two changes to the squad that travelled to New Road for the Worcestershire Rapids defeat yesterday.

Graham Onions returns in place of Mark Wood, who has joined up with England for their training camp ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. Gareth Harte stayed on in Worcestershire to play in today’s Second XI Trophy fixture.

Despite defeat against the Rapids, Graham Clark notched a maiden List A century while Paul Coughlin continued to impress by returning career-best figures of 3/36.

Nothing less than a win will keep Durham’s qualification hopes alive, though they must also hope Notts Outlaws fail to beat Northants Steelbacks to take reach the quarter-finals.

In the event of an abandonment or tie at Emirates Riverside, an Outlaws defeat & a failure of Leicestershire Foxes to beat Yorkshire Vikings would also see us progress.

The Lightning could also still qualify with a win, meaning it’s all to play in the final round of North Group fixtures.

Durham have won the last three completed matches between the sides & are unbeaten in five completed One-Day Cup matches at Emirates Riverside.

Play is due to start at 2pm with gates opening an hour earlier at 1pm. Advance tickets are available at £12 adults & £5 juniors, with adult prices rising to £15 on the day.

Live commentary is available via the BBC Sport website while regular updates will be over on our Twitter account.
