#Blast17: Ones to watch

The NatWest T20 Blast is almost back & we kick off our campaign with a home match against Lancashire Lightning on Friday, 9 June!

Your Durham Jets stars are ready to improve on last year’s runner-up spot & last year’s exceptional home record, which saw them win five out of six completed matches.

But the North Group sides in #Blast17 have stars who will aim to put on a show of their own when they grace the Emirates Riverside turf.

We have a look at some of those who will pit themselves against the Jets during the campaign – & you don’t want to miss any of them!

Mitchell Santner

All-rounder Mitchell Santner will take to the field against fellow countryman Tom Latham when the Jets take on Worcestershire Rapids on Friday, 11 August.

25-year-old Santner, predominantly a left-arm spinner, has 20 T20 wickets, his best coming in the 2016 World Cup T20 against much-fancied India.

Not just a one-trick pony the ball, he also has a highest score of 45 with the bat, which he smashed from 21 balls in the New Zealand domestic competition for Northern Districts.

Dan Christian

High-flying all-rounder Dan Christian has rejoined up with Notts for this season’s T20 Blast campaign having taken 150 T20 wickets through his career.

The 34-year-old has featured in the Australian T20 Big Bash League for both Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes, taking a career best 5/14 for the Hurricanes in their 2016 outing.

The Australian scored his highest T20 score in the 2014 NatWest T20 Blast where he played for Middlesex scoring 129 from 57 balls including 12 fours and ten sixes.

Shaun Marsh

Australian international Shaun Marsh has joined Yorkshire ahead of this season’s NatWest T20 Blast.

33-year-old Marsh has tallied 5,147 runs in his T20 career, with an average of 39.59 in domestic T20 competitions, and also scored an unbeaten 47 from 40 balls for Australia in the 2012/13 season in Sri Lanka featuring two fours & two sixes.

He also impressed with Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, scoring a career-best 115 from 69 balls against the Rajasthan Royals including 11 fours and seven sixes.

Junaid Khan

Recent ICC Champions Trophy winner Junaid Khan has joined up with Lancashire Lighting for a third spell at the club after featuring for them back in 2011 and 2014.

The left arm pace man has 116 T20 wickets, his best spell coming in the 2014 season bagging 4/12 as he helped Lancashire to a 15-run victory over Warwickshire.

His mix of slower balls & darting yorkers make him one to watch at either end of an innings.

Seekkuge Prasanna

Seekkuge Prasanna has returned to Northamptonshire for another season in the NatWest T20 Blast having played for them in last season’s winning campaign.

The 31-year-old featured ten times last season, picking up 12 wickets with an economy rate of just 6.94, a fantastic return in the modern game.

Prasanna’s highest T20 score with the bat came in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he scored 53 for the Dhaka Dynamites off 22 balls against the Khulna Titans.
