Arshad, Collingwood penalised under Discipline Code

Usman Arshad & Paul Collingwood have been penalised under the ECB Discipline Code.

Arshad was reported by umpires Steve O’Shaughnessy and Billy Taylor during his county’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Nottinghamshire on 5th August 2017.

The Cricket Liaison Officer, Graham Cowdrey, determined that Arshad had committed a Level One breach of the code (bowling a fast short pitched ball and/or accidental high full pitched ball that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

The penalty for this offence is a reprimand.

Collingwood was reported by umpires Tim Robinson and Russell Warren during a NatWest T20 Blast match against Lancashire on 7th July 2017. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Phil Whitticase, determined that Collingwood had committed a Level One breach of the code (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Collingwood has therefore received a total of nine penalty points. An automatic suspension is normally activated on the accumulation of nine points; however, in keeping with precedent both with individual players and with counties regarding penalties applied as a result of the accidental high full pitched delivery, the Chairman of the Cricket Discipline Commission has applied discretion and determined that no suspension will be applied at this time.

These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years.
