Rain wins after Jets post 208

Match abandoned: Northants Steelbacks (1 point) vs Durham Jets (208/3; Clark 71, Richardson 47*; 1 point)

Durham Jets posted a season-high 208/3 before heavy rain ensured a damp squib would end this year’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign at Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

Graham Clark was the chief aggressor with 71 in just 37 balls as the Jets posted their highest score against Northants & fourth highest against any side.

Michael Richardson (47*) & Paul Coughlin (36*) added 67 in less than seven overs to haul Durham over 200, but the early work was done by Clark as he recovered from the early loss of Keaton Jennings to go on the attack in the powerplay.

He struck four boundaries from the fifth over bowled by Richard Gleeson to provide some momentum and a drive over mid-off & flick over short fine-leg saw 58/1 come from the first six overs.

Clark stepped away to slap Josh Cobb past extra-cover and slog-swept the left-arm spin of Graeme White into the gardens on the Wantage Road.

His second six was sent over midwicket as he passed fifty in 26 balls as Northants again struggled with the ball.

Latham was trapped LBW by Azharullah & the number three fell after a short rain delay, slapping White straight into the hands of cover.

But Richardson & Coughlin continued the aggression & overcame some tight closing overs to score ten from the final one, which included a huge six over long-off for the skipper.

But the rain prevented Durham from defending any sort of total & the game was abandoned shortly after 9:30pm, meaning the holders were also knocked out.
