Durham targeting third straight RLODC win

Durham head coach Jon Lewis had named a 14-man squad as Durham chase a third consecutive Royal London One-Day Cup victory when they take on Warwickshire under the lights at Emirates Riverside tomorrow (2:00pm start).

After back-to-back wins over North Group leaders Worcestershire & Northamptonshire, Lewis’ side are quickly gaining confidence in the 50-over format.

The wins put Durham above Lancashire & Leicestershire – who are currently playing at Oakham School – & victory tomorrow takes them level with Warwickshire on six points.

Durham are boosted by the return of Paul Collingwood after he missed the previous three games with a calf injury, with Ryan Davies dropping out of the squad.

Squad vs Warwickshire (1 June)

Graham Clark, Cameron Steel, Michael Richardson, Tom Latham (c), Paul Collingwood, Will Smith, Stu Poynter (wk), Gareth Harte, Ryan Pringle, Nathan Rimmington, Matt Dixon, Chris Rushworth, George Harding, Josh Coughlin

Last Time Out

Durham (215/5; Cook 67, Collingwood 65*, Richardson 51) beat Leicestershire (211; Chappell 59*; Weighell 4/34, Collingwood 3/42) by five wickets

James Weighell continued his impressive start to the Royal London One-Day Cup with four wickets before the batsmen knocked off Leicestershire’s total with ease at South North CC.

In truth, the bowlers’ early damage won the match as the visitors lost their first two wickets without scoring before being reduced to 3/3 & then 12/4.

Led by Zak Chappell’s 59, the middle & lower order gave the score some respectability as they were bowled out with one ball to spare.

The score always looked short on a small ground with a good pitch & proved so as Stephen Cook (67) & Michael Richardson (51) broke the back of the chase.

Paul Collingwood added the emphasis to finish proceedings early, scoring 65 off 60 balls to win with more than six overs remaining.
