England pace bowler Mark Wood will play for Durham in tomorrow’s Royal London One-Day Cup encounter against Notts Outlaws at Emirates Riverside (11am start).
The 28-year-old missed out on selection for the second Test against Pakistan at Emerald Headingley & has been granted a return to Durham colours by the ECB.
Though Durham cannot qualify out of the North Group after last night’s narrow defeat to Warwickshire, the fixture will hand Wood playing time with the white ball ahead of England’s five-match Royal London ODI series against Australia, the fourth of which will be at a sold out Emirates Riverside.
Wood made a big impact on his only previous appearance for Durham this season, taking career-best first-class figures of 6/46 in the Specsavers County Championship match at Derbyshire last month.
He is one of two guaranteed changes to the line-up, with Paul Collingwood & Nathan Rimmington dropping out of the squad. Will qualification now not possible, the pair will take the opportunity to rest – Collingwood has been nursing a calf niggle in recent weeks, while Rimmington has played in every fixture since arriving in April.
Ryan Davies, the former England under-19 wicketkeeper who signed a contract prior to the Worcestershire game, also comes back into the squad. Barry McCarthy is also in contention to play.
The Outlaws are in the thick of the qualification battle & have England opener Alex Hales to call upon after his return from the IPL.

Last Time Out
A composed batting performance after the loss of early wickets handed Durham a stunning victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
Despite losing two wickets early in the chase of 298, opener Graham Clark & Cameron Steel played through a hostile spell from Stuart Broad, Jake Ball & James Pattinson to put on 160 for the third wicket.
The pair fell within four runs of each other but Paul Collingwood then anchored Durham to the target with five balls to spare. Collingwood scored 77 off just 47 balls, with valuable quickfire cameos from Paul Coughlin & Stuart Poynter.
Alex Hales struck a century earlier in the day, including a towering six into the BBC radio commentary box, before a 101-run stand between Chris Read & Billy Root boosted the score up towards three figures.
