Trophy campaign ends in Lancs defeat

Result: Lancashire 2nd XI (204/6; Guest 57*; Whitehead 2/36, Main 2/48) beat Durham 2nd XI (201; Jones 55; Oldham 3/35) by four wickets

Durham’s final Second XI Trophy fixture of the season ended in a four-wicket defeat to Lancashire at Emirates Riverside.

A low-scoring encounter on a pitch used during the previous two Royal London One-Day Cup matches, Durham made it to 201 all out off 47.3 overs.

Michael Jones top-scored with 55 & Liam Trevaskis made 31 but a cluster of wickets when the pair fell, with 103/1 becoming 139/7.

A lower order partnership between George Harding & Barry McCarthy ensured Durham got past the 200 mark, a total which they almost defended.

The visitors were thankful to wicketkeeper Brooke Guest’s 57 not out & 40 from experienced one-day player Aaron Lilley helped the Red Rose up the run-rate towards the back-end of the innings.

The two sides are going head-to-head in a three-day fixture at Emirates Riverside.
