Salisbury signs ahead of One-Day closer

Fast bowler Matt Salisbury has penned a one-month loan deal & goes straight into the squad for the final Royal London One-Day Cup match at Leicestershire tomorrow (2pm start).

The 25-year-old, who is currently contracted with MCC Young Cricketers, joins the Club after impressing in Second XI outings earlier in the year.

Formerly of Essex & Hampshire, Salisbury has played 16 first-class matches, picking up 27 wickets with a best of 4/50 against Worcestershire in 2014.

He has also featured six times in List A cricket & eight times in T20s, all of which came during Essex’s 2014 T20 campaign.

Ryan Davies is in contention for a Durham debut after being named in a 12-man squad. The 21-year-old signed a two-year contract before the Worcestershire fixture but is yet to feature in First XI cricket.

Barry McCarthy returns to the squad while Mark Wood remains available for selection ahead of England duty.

Nathan Rimmington, Chris Rushworth & Cameron Steel sit out the fixture to focus on the upcoming Specsavers County Championship clash against Derbyshire on Saturday.

Last Time Out

Durham (215/5; Cook 67, Collingwood 65*, Richardson 51) beat Leicestershire (211; Chappell 59; Weighell 4/34, Collingwood 3/42) by five wickets

Durham maintained a perfect record at South North, beating Leicestershire by five wickets at Gosforth.

Put into bat by Keaton Jennings, the visitors slumped to 3/3 after some tight bowling from the new ball bowlers forced a string of errant shots.

A number of wickets through the middle overs left them 127/8 but 59 from number nine Zak Chappell helped the score to a respectable 211.

On a small ground with a fast outfield, it was always going to prove a difficult target to defend & it proved so as Durham cantered home.

Half centuries from Stephen Cook & Michael Richardson put Durham in command almost from the off & Paul Collingwood’s unbeaten 65 put the exclamation mark on a straightforward win.
