Eden Mill Player of the Month: July

Voting is now open for July’s Eden Mill Player of the Month for July, with four more players in the running for the monthly award.

Matt Salisbury & Michael Richardson picked up the award for June & May respectively – but July will see a different winner.

Graham Clark, Tom Latham, Paul Collingwood & James Weighell are all up for the award for their outstanding contributions to a month in which Durham Jets cemented a place in the Vitality Blast North Group top four.

Read more about each nomination below, watch the video & vote via the Twitter poll.

Voting closes at midday on Wednesday 8 August.

Graham Clark

The Jets solid start to Vitality Blast 2018 has largely been built upon the solid foundations laid by the 25-year-old at the top of the order.

Clark blasted 276 runs in the seven matches played during July, including three fifties & four consecutive half century opening stands with Tom Latham & Ben Stokes respectively.

His highest score of 65 came off 40 balls as the Jets defended 220/6 to win against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

Tom Latham

Leading the side from the front, Tom Latham also enjoyed the brief venture back to four day cricket in July.

Appointed skipper to keep consistency in the side, Latham hit 147 & 45 in the Specsavers County Championship match against Gloucestershire to go with a superb start in the T20 format.

He amassed 261 runs in the shortest format, falling just two shy of becoming the Jets’ second T20 centurion with 98 not out in the victory over Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.

Paul Collingwood

The veteran all-rounder featured in six Vitality Blast matches in July & contributed impressive performances with both bat & ball.

He was at his miserly best with the ball at Trent Bridge, taking 3/25 to help defeat the Outlaws before scoring 40 not out to see Durham home in the return fixture a week later.

James Weighell

Weighell’s ever-improving bowling at either end of the opposition innings’ helped the Jets to climb up to second during the month.

Whether it be the wickets of Steven Mullaney & Moeen Alu up front or removing Dan Christian & a century-bound Sam Hain late on, his wickets have come at crucial junctures in matches.

There were 10 strikes in the month & the Jets will need plenty more in the following two weeks as they chase a quarter-final spot.
