Fourteen travel for Lightning showdown

Jon Lewis has named a squad of 14 to travel to Emirates Old Trafford for tonight’s crunch Vitality Blast match against Lancashire Lightning.

Will Smith makes a return to the squad after missing the last three matches with a calf injury, while Paul Collingwood is back after missing Friday’s defeat at Worcestershire Rapids.

Leg spinner Imran Tahir has departed for the Caribbean Premier League with Ben Whitehead again included in the squad after making his debut at New Road.

All-rounder Scott Steel is also included for the first time in the competition after an impressive season for the Second XI thus far.

The Jets are second in the Vitality Blast North Group & just a point ahead of tonight’s hosts, who are fourth. Both sides have five games remaining.

Last Time Out

Lancashire Lightning (174/5; Livingstone 61; Pringle 3/30) beat Durham Jets (143/8; Steel 37; Clark 3/36) by 31 runs

A fine second half performance from Lancashire restricted the Jets to just 143/8 in pursuit of 175 to win in last year’s match at Emirates Old Trafford.

Cameron Steel scored 37 on T20 debut & fellow opener Graham Clark made 24 in a solid start, but wickets combined with a climbing run-rate put paid to Durham’s hopes of a successful chase.

Paul Coughlin made 29 off just 16 balls but it was too-little, too-late.

Liam Livingstone’s 61 was the backbone of the hosts’ 174/5.
