Seconds face Essex in Championship final

Durham’s Second XI will face Essex at Emirates Riverside after reaching the final of the 2nd XI Championship.

Neil Killeen’s side have taken an unassailable lead at the summit of the North Group, despite Lancashire’s game in hand.

The final, four days in comparison to the three played in each of the fixtures so far, will take place between Tuesday 4 – Friday 7 September.

Durham are going for their second title win in three years after beating Middlesex to be crowned champions at Emirates Riverside in 2016.

Their red ball record so far this season is six wins, two draws & just one defeat in nine matches.

And after meeting in the 2nd XI T20 semi-finals last week, the two teams will get to know each other further in the upcoming friendlies scheduled for next week.

The two teams will contest a three-day friendly at Chester-le-Street starting on Monday 20 August before a one-day fixture at Brandon on the Thursday.

As a result of Durham’s progression, the three-day friendly scheduled for 4-6 September at Sussex has been cancelled.
