Durham Cricket Academy lost their latest North East Premier League Premier Division match away at Whitburn on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors were only able to reach 110 all out from 39.5 overs with Tom Mackintosh the only man to pass 30 and Matty Oswell making some valuable late order runs to boost the total over 100. Craig Smith and Chris Stewart took three wickets each to put Whitburn in control.
Faizan Hussain continued his impressive summer with the ball for Durham as he took 4-16 off 4.4 overs as Durham tried in vain to repair the damage.
However, opener Lee Henderson made 34 & Durham senior academy player Chris McBride made 29 as Whitburn won by five wickets inside 26 overs.
On Sunday they lost their Durham Senior Trophy semi final to Chester Le Street. The hosts made 134-4 off their 20 overs with opener Andy Smith making 57 off 49 balls. The four Durham wickets were shared equally between Ross Greenwell, Matty Oswell, Faizan Hussain and Adam Ahmed.
Durham could only reach 106-8 in reply after a top order collapse. Only Adam Ahmed provided resistance with a well made half century.
The academy under-19 side won a two-day friendly against their Leicestershire counterparts at Uppingham.
Durham won the toss elected to bowl and skittled the hosts for just 89. Adam Ahmed once again starred with the ball taking 4-12 off 16 overs & Max Williamson also chipped in with 3-20 off 12.4 overs.
Opener Tom Hewison (pictured) made 102 off 99 balls to put Durham in control and Adam Ahmed came in at number 6 to make a cameo 44 which brought Durham’s first innings total up to 250.
Leicestershire were restricted to 183 all out as Ahmed again starred with the ball taking 3-50 off 31 overs & Liam Burgess took 2-31 off 16 overs. Durham needed just 23 to win and Tom Hewitson made 23 of Durham’s 26-0 as they won by 10 wickets.
In other news, the women’s first team beat Oxfordshire in their championship play off by 85 runs to secure promotion and the u13 women lost back to back T20 games to Lancashire and Northumberland.
