Durham (287; Pringle 75, Raine 71) vs Yorkshire (294/7)

Durham’s bowlers had their first run out of the season as Yorkshire made 294/7 on the second & final day of the two-day friendly at Senwes Park.

Senior paceman Chris Rushworth was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets as the bowling attack was rotated across the duration of the 90 overs in South Africa.

There was a return to action for Brydon Carse after his long injury lay-off during 2018 & he returned with a bang, taking the first two wickets to fall in consecutive balls. Harry Brook dragged the 23-year-old back onto the stumps before Gary Ballance shouldered arms to have his off stump disturbed.

Ryan Pringle had Adam Lyth caught at backward point while Matty Potts struck with the first ball of his spell, trapping Jack Leaning LBW.

Wicketkeeper Jonny Tattersall was the pick of the bowlers for the White Rose, scoring an unbeaten century.

Durham’s next two-day fixture starts against Nottinghamshire on Thursday.

Durham (287; Pringle 75, Raine 71) vs Yorkshire

Durham’s pre-season programme got underway with a day of batting against Yorkshire at Senwes Park today (Monday 18 March).

The batsmen chalked up 287 on the first day, thanks largely to a partnership of 128 between all-rounders Ben Raine & Ryan Pringle.

Pringle top-scored with 75 off 69 balls while Raine, playing his first match since returning to Durham from Leicestershire, struck four sixes in scoring 71 off 113 balls.

It was a useful day of batting in Potchefstroom as new Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin got a first look at his players out in the middle.

Cameron Steel made 35 at the top of the order before retiring after a blow to the head from Duanne Olivier, while Brydon Carse made an unbeaten 32.

Tomorrow is the turn of the bowlers to get some overs under their belts before another two-day game against Nottinghamshire, which starts on Thursday.

Durham XIII: Lees, C Steel, Burnham, Richardson, Clark, Eckersley, Pringle, Raine, Carse, Potts, Weighell, Rushworth, Whitehead
