Under-15s go 2 from 2 on T20 Tuesday

Durham Under 15’s faced Cleveland and Cumbria Under 15’s on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon at Norton Cricket Club and came out of both games with a win.

Durham U15’s (105/4; Pratt 44, Dawson 33) beat Cleveland U15’s (105/9; Pratt 3/25, Truss 3/11) by 6 wickets

During last week’s preparation for the day, John Windows expressed his desire for ‘high energy running and fielding’ throughout the day.

But Durham started slowly with Bolam, Gray and Metcalfe all being dispatched with less than 5 runs each.

It was a strong partnership from Pratt and Dawson that eventually got the D’s over the line.

James Lowe praised the duo, claiming it got the boys out of trouble after a poor start.

“We were in a little bit of trouble with the batting early on, there was some poor individual performances. But then a good partnership between Robbie and Jake got us out of trouble.

“We didn’t play as well as we could do, it was a bit of a sloppy performance so I’m hoping for an improvement in this afternoon’s game.”

Durham Under 15’s (141/6; Bolam 77) beat Cumbria Under 15’s (79/9) by 62 runs

Tom Bolam stole the show during the innings, scoring an impressive 77 off 64 balls.

This along with some high energy running and good safety play from the rest of the boys ensured Cumbria had a mammoth task ahead of them, which they couldn’t overcome.

“I’m really please with how the day has been,” said coach James Lowe.

“In the first game we were a bit lackluster, although we managed to win, our cricket was a bit sloppy and untidy.

“But a credit to the lads in the second game, they were a lot sharper, there was lots of high energy which is what we want and they were a lot better in the field.

“The lads posted a really good total in the first innings, we managed to apply the pressure early on and that made the difference.”
