Durham Cricket Lead High Performance Coach, James Franklin has named a 13-man squad for Durham’s fifth Specsavers County Championship fixture against Derbyshire at Emirates Riverside.
Franklin has named 21-year-old, Scotland international, Michael Jones in place of Ryan Pringle and recalled Graham Clark and James Weighell to his thirteen.
Jones batted excellently at Campbell Road last week, playing for the Seconds against Northamptonshire and was cruelly dismissed for 99 from 162 balls. The opener batted well alongside Alex Lees who also found some rhythm against Northants, scoring a disciplined 66.
D’s fast-bowler Matthew Salisbury will miss out due to a groin injury, which means that Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse will both feature in the red ball format for the first time this season.
Durham are looking for their first red-ball win of 2019 – despite a promising Royal London One Day Cup campaign – and to move off the bottom of the table, however Derbyshire have started this season well and are currently in second place just 18 points behind Lancashire.
SQUAD: Alex Lees, Michael Jones, Cameron Bancroft (c), Gareth Harte, Graham Clark, Jack Burnham, Liam Trevaskis, Ned Eckersley, Ben Raine, James Weighell, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Chris Rushworth.
