Durham Cricket are set to hold a disability cricket day at Emirates Riverside on Friday, 30 August.
The event is part of Durham’s Super 1s programme, which gives young people with disabilities the chance to play regular cricket and currently runs in two hubs in the county on a weekly basis.
Next Friday the participants from the hubs in Peterlee and Spennymoor will get together to visit the home of Durham Cricket and take part in skills competitions throughout the day.
The event is also open to people with physical and/ or learning disabilities of any age or experience interested in giving cricket a go.
The Super 1s, the Lord’s Taverners national programme, was launched in Durham in January and has since been offering free coaching sessions to young people with disabilities aged 12-25.
The disability cricket day on Friday, 30 August, will run from 10.00am until 3.00pm and is open to anyone, interested in finding out more about Super 1s or taking part.
Participants should bring packed lunch and plenty of drinks.
