13-man squad announced for Bears encounter

Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has kept faith with the same 13-man squad ahead of tonight’s Vitality Blast fixture against Birmingham Bears.

Harry Adair, James Weighell and Gareth Harte remain in contention for a place in the side as the Ds look to end their home Blast campaign with a victory.

Peter Handscomb retains the captaincy and will keep wicket as Durham look to improve on their current seventh place position in the North Group – four points behind fourth-placed Worcestershire Rapids with two games remaining.

D’Arcy Short will appear at the Emirates Riverside for the final time this season on the back of a stunning campaign that sees the Australian in contention for the Professional Cricketer’s Association (PCA) MVP award. Short has contributed 397 runs in 10 innings to this point in the competition – taking 9 wickets with the ball.

Scott Steel has also been in imperious form taking four wickets with his off-spin at an average of 10.75 and 324 runs with the bat and could finish in the top ten of the PCA rankings.

Matthew Potts has taken 15 wickets in the competition – good enough for joint tenth in the competition’s wicket-taking stakes.
