Durham return to Championship action at Lord’s

Durham Cricket return to Specsavers County Championship action at Lord’s on Tuesday as James Franklin’s side make their final push for promotion.

With the Vitality Blast campaign over for another year, attention turns to the red ball format and Durham will be eager to maintain their excellent form – unbeaten in seven games in the four-day game.

Currently fifth in the table, Durham sit 10 points outside of the promotion places with three games to play – one of those against third-placed Northamptonshire with the season culminating in a home game against fourth-placed Glamorgan.

Ned Eckersley will captain for the second time looking to go one better than the draw against Leicestershire. Alex Lees notched a mammoth 181 and has amassed 791 runs in Division Two this season – the 8th most in the competition.

Brydon Carse will be keen to build on career best figures of 6/63 last time out, while Chris Rushworth leads all bowlers in Division Two with 57 wickets, and has the second most scalps in the entire County Championship.

Bowler Matt Salisbury returns to the squad after battling his way back from injury, while Scott Steel is in contention for a first-class debut.

Jack Burnham misses out due to an injury niggle and Peter Handscomb is set for his final appearance before heading back to Australia.

Chris Rushworth, Gareth Harte, Brydon Carse, Alex Lees, Angus Robson, Nathan Rimmington, Cameron Steel, Liam Trevaskis, Scott Steel, Matt Salisbury, Peter Handscomb, Ned Eckersley (c, wk), Ben Raine.
