Gulf Cup representative team ready for UAE trip

Durham Cricket’s Gulf Cup representative team of 14 elite female cricketers is ready to embark on the two-week trip to the United Arab Emirates after a month of training in preparation for the international competition.

The squad of cricketers from Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria will be the first girls’ team representing Durham Cricket at the competition, starting in January.

Coach Danielle Hazell said: “The girls have trained really hard for it (the Gulf Cup) and done a lot of fundraising so I’m sure they’re really looking forward to it.

“The boys did really well last year in their chance to get out there and I’m really happy the girls are getting their opportunity, they should do so.”

Durham Cricket TV caught up with the coaches and squad during their pre-competition training.

The team is still raising funds for the trip and you can get involved by clicking the link below.
