As the summer gets underway and the government announce their plans to come out of lockdown, I wanted to provide our members, fans, partners and customers with an update on the situation at the club.
Unfortunately, as you will all know, we are still in the midst of the lockdown, therefore cricket and more importantly normal life has been unable to resume. Durham Cricket and Emirates Riverside remain closed, but we are planning for a number of different scenarios and we will be ready to open as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
There are already some positive signs from a cricketing perspective. The ECB announced that the England players will resume training with a view to playing some international cricket later in the summer. Decisions around the County game are still to be made and these will depend upon the success of the government’s plans in the coming months. In the meantime, our players continue to train at home and will be fit and ready to play when needed.
Once we have a clear picture of how the season is developing, we will be in touch with members and T20 season ticket holders to update them on the situation with regards to their memberships. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding at this time.
Unfortunately, some of this summer’s concerts set to be held at Emirates Riverside have already been cancelled. Anyone who has tickets for the planned Little Mix or Westlife concerts should contact their ticketing provider for a refund. We will be in touch with all hospitality customers as soon as we are able to resume business at Emirates Riverside. We also hope to have news on the forthcoming Michael Bublé concert in the coming weeks.
Given the recent developments and the delayed start to the season we thought it would be useful and hopefully fun to hold an online members forum. We will be making further announcements about this shortly so please keep a look out for details of how-to login and participate.
I would once again like to take this opportunity on behalf of everyone at Durham Cricket to wish you all well for the coming weeks and to once again send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all frontline workers and everyone who has contributed to keeping the country safe during this difficult time.
