28th August 2020 T20 Blast

Unchanged squad named for double T20 weekend.

Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named an unchanged squad for this weekend’s fixtures against Notts Outlaws and Leicestershire Foxes.

Durham Cricket begin their double weekend of T20 action with a home fixture tomorrow [Saturday 29 August] at 2pm against Notts Outlaws, before taking on Leicestershire Foxes [Monday 31 August] at Emerald Headingley at starting 1:05pm, live on Sky Sports.

Durham go into Saturday’s game on the back of Thursday’s opening defeat in the Blast going down by just twenty-seven runs to Lancashire Lightning, in a high scoring contest at Emirates Riverside.

Durham v Lancashire the only game to get played on the opening day due to rain causing abandonments across the country.

Durham captain, Nathan Rimmington said: “They got away to a really good start and it was hard to claw back. Keaton Jennings played really well and sometimes you just have to tip your cap. He played outstanding and it was a great knock. We have to be better as well. Our execution with the ball was off and you saw the result.

“It’s hard to claw back sometimes and I think we were staring down the barrel of 210 or 220 at one stage. We gave ourselves a little bit of a chance with the bat, but things did not go our way in the powerplay, and we were left with too much from the final overs.

“You do just have to keep hanging there sometimes in T20 sometimes and hope that anything can happen. We have to have short memories of the Lancashire game, think about what we did well and tidy up a few of them areas and we will be in with a shot I am sure.

“There were only 27 runs in the Lancashire game, I think we all know we could have executed better with the ball and dragged back 15 or 20 runs, if we get off to a little better of a start there is the game, so there aren’t too many deep wounds. We did some good things and we just need to tidy up a few areas”
