It has been agreed that Durham Cricket Foundation will now be led by Durham Cricket’s Director of Development Graeme Weeks alongside the newly appointed Cricket Development and Foundation Manager Liam Simpson.
Following Josie Pointon’s departure from her role as a Foundation Manager, the Foundation will now be run by Graeme Weeks, who also leads the Cricket Development Department at Durham Cricket.
Weeks will be supported by Liam Simpson, who has been promoted into a newly created role of Cricket Development and Foundation Manager, responsible for the management of Durham Cricket’s Foundation as well as the Cricket Development Department.
Weeks and Simpson both have past experience of working with the charity – Graeme has been a Foundation trustee for the past two years while Liam has been involved with the Foundation’s overseas project in Uganda last year, setting up cricket hubs and formalising a new partnership with Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).
The new structure will ensure the good work of the Foundation is continued, while it also creates synergy with the work of Durham Cricket’s Recreational Department.
The charity’s work aligns well with some of the Cricket Development Department’s recreational and community projects and the new structure will support an efficient partnership.
Graeme Weeks said: “Josie has done an incredible job with the Foundation in the past four years and I look forward to seeing how we can continue the fantastic work and grow the reach and impact of the Foundation in the future.
“I’m very excited to contribute to the projects that the Foundation is involved with and I know Liam is the best person to manage the day-to-day delivery of the programmes.”
Liam Simpson said: “I’m delighted to have been given the position of Foundation and Cricket Development Manager. It’s an exciting change for me professionally and I look forward to managing the delivery of the Foundation alongside the Cricket Development Department.
“Having worked with Josie for a few years now, I’m excited to carry on the legacy she has left as well as grow and nurture the fantastic projects the Foundation deliver.
“I’m really excited and eager to get going with the day-to-day running of both the Foundation and the Cricket Development Department to ensure that we continue to deliver high quality programmes throughout the community.”
