Durham Cricket’s Development coaching team has come back from furlough to complete interrupted Performance Pathway courses.
The coaching team has returned from furlough this week, week commencing 7th December, in order to complete the Boys’ League-Based courses, which were interrupted by the second lockdown in November.
The team of 11 Development Officers, part of the Cricket Development Department, will complete 10 courses in the next two and a half weeks.
The League-Based courses are the first part of the annual Performance Pathway process by the end of which Durham’s county representative squads are formed.
The Cricket Development Department worked quickly to rearrange any remaining sessions and ensure that a number of younger aspiring cricketers don’t miss out on the opportunity to complete the invitation-only courses and advance their skills.
The Girls’ Performance Pathway courses have been rearranged until January 2021.
Director of Cricket Development Graeme Weeks said: “We are really glad we have managed to work around the changing circumstances and rearrange any remaining sessions from the League-Based courses.
“We didn’t want a number of young talented cricketers to miss out on an opportunity to be involved in the pathway process and develop their skills despite the situation.
“Through these courses we get to coach some of the most promising cricketers and through our work with them we help to improve the standard of cricket across the county and the recreational cricket leagues.
“For that reason, we felt it was important to do everything we can to get the courses back on and deliver the full five-week programme of coaching for each course.”
