Preview: North East Warriors v North Representative Team

The North East Warriors will look for a first win of the season when they take on the North Representative Team this Sunday in the ECB Women’s County T20 Championships.

The Warriors have so far had an abandoned and a cancelled game against Yorkshire due to rain on Bank Holiday Monday and have lost two against Lancashire in their season opener.

The North Representative XI, a team made up of players from across the Northern counties, have had two wins under their belt against Scotland, with two also cancelled to rain.

The Warriors’ match squad includes 13 players as Hayley Falla returns for the weekend clash.

Sixteen-year-old seamer Lucy Hughes is selected for the first time and will make her senior debut.

Head Coach Tom Cant said: ‘We’ve had a tough couple of weeks against strong Lancashire and Yorkshire sides after not being able to train for the majority of the winter, whereas a lot of their players are in the Regional structure so they have been able to train and we’ve been playing catch up a little bit.

“However we go into Sunday’s games confident of two positive results against the Northern Rep Team.

“We’ve selected 13  and we’ll decide the final 11 once we’ve seen the pitch after some indifferent North East weather this week.”

The North East Warriors play the North Representative Team in two T20 games, starting at 11.00am and 3.00pm on Sunday, 9th May at Brandon Cricket Club.
