Cameron Steel joins Surrey on two-year deal

Durham Cricket can confirm that Cameron Steel will be leaving the club and will join Surrey County Cricket Club. 

Initially, the right-hander will join Surrey on loan for the remainder of the 2021 season, before signing a two year deal for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The 25-year-old made his Durham First-class debut against Gloucestershire in 2017, featuring across all format since joining as a graduate of Durham University in 2016.

The right-hander made 51 appearances for Durham in both red and white ball cricket, scoring 9 half centuries and 3 centuries during  his time in the North East.

Steel said: “ I’ve had some of the best times of my life playing for Durham and living in the North East. I’d like to thank the players, the staff and the members for their amazing support over the last 5 years.

“While I’m sad that it hasn’t worked out at Riverside, I’m extremely excited to begin my journey at Surrey.

“I wish everyone at Durham every success, and I look forward to admiring Lumley Castle and the wonderful members from the away dressing room some time soon!”
