Durham Cricket Academy players Alfie Taylor Clarke and Ben McKinney have been selected to represent the North in this year’s ECB Super4s competition.
The annual tournament, held at Loughborough University sees talented Under 18 year olds from across the country compete in a regional tournament in both 50 over and T20 cricket, with the North going up against the Midlands, South & West and London & East across five days.
Top order batsman Ben McKinney who plays his club cricket at Hetton Lyons has scored 431 North East Premier League runs so far this campaign with a best of 71 against Chester le Street while left arm seamer Alfie Taylor Clarke plays for North Yorkshire South Durham side Middlesbrough, where he has claimed 20 league wickets with a best of 4/58 against Saltburn.
The North will kick off the week against London & East on [Monday 26 July] at 10:30am in the 50 over competition, going up against Midlands on Tuesday and South & West on Thursday, before closing the week off with a knockout T20 competition on Friday.
Durham Cricket Academy Director John Windows will be in attendance working with the North as an Assistant Coach to Yorkshire’Academy Director Richard Damms.
Windows said: “It’s always a proud achievement when Durham players are chosen to represent the North. It’s an exciting week and both Ben and Alfie will get a chance to perform against players from across the country. I wish both boys all the best and I’m sure they’ll benefit from this week.”
