The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched its new Core Coach course, equivalent of a 1st4sport Level 2 Coaching Award, with two courses available in Durham this winter.
The launch of the course is part of a wider strategic response to needing more coaches on the ground able to inspire and develop players.
The ECB Core Coach replaces the old ECB Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket and ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People and Adults’ Cricket provisions and becomes an entry level qualification for coaching cricket in England and Wales alongside ECB Foundation Coach.
In Durham, our Coaches’ Association will run two courses in the new year – one in January, taking place at Hetton School and another in March and April, being held at the Riverside.
The Core Coach course is ideal for those who are experienced cricketers, teachers or coaches, or people who already hold the Foundation I award and would like to take the next step in their coaching journey.
