Durham Cricket can announce that after 19 years’ service to Durham Cricket, James Lowe will leave his role as Lead Performance Coach for Academy and Pathway cricket.
James will take up the role of Head of Academy at Yorkshire County Cricket Club ahead of the 2022 season and will be responsible for the boy’s academy in addition to working with the professional squads.
Before progressing into coaching, Lowe made 10 appearances for Durham scoring 80 on his first-class debut against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl, playing 9 first-class games and 1 List-A fixture during a 5-year spell on the Durham staff.
Upon his retirement from professional cricket James joined the Durham Cricket Board as a cricket development officer holding that role for 6 years before being promoted to Assistant Academy Coach in 2017 and then Lead Performance Coach for Pathway and Academy 3 years ago.
Throughout his time with Durham, James has coached a number of the Durham Cricket junior teams including the boy’s Under 14s, Under 15s, Girls Under 17s and Women’s Academy in addition to managing the Emerging Players Programme.

James Lowe said: “Being involved with Durham both as a player then as a coach over the last 20 years has been a great privilege.
“It is now the right time for me to take on a new challenge which I am excited about but I look forward to seeing the continued development of this group of talented young local players we have at Durham.
