Durham’s 6 Academy players had a successful week at the ECB Super4s as the North came out on top in both the T20 and 50 over competitions at Loughborough University.
Stanley Mcalindon, Ben McKinney, Mitchell Killeen, Dan Hogg, Ross Whitfield and Max Jackson were all involved with each player having a valuable contribution to the winning North side.
Durham City right arm seamer finished as the joint leading wicker taker in the competition with 11 wickets claiming a best of 3/18 agains London & East in the opening round of games.
His 3/18 in the opening game saw Mitchell Killeen pick up 2/19 with Stanley Mcalindon also in action with 1/18 as the North bowled London & East out for 89. Ben McKinney top scored for the North with 66 as the North posted 280/9 winning by 191 runs.
In game two it was a 4 wicket win for the North as they chased down 213 with 21 overs to spare. The Durham duo of Hogg and Mcalindon dismissed both the Midlands openers as they secured 3 wickets apiece.
Stanley Mcalindon, Ben McKinney and Mitchell Killeen all returned back to the Durham squad mid-week through the week, with McKinney captaining the North in the first two games scoring 148 runs at 74.
In McKinney’s absence, Ross Whitfield captained the North scoring 117 runs in the week leading his side to both titles.
History was made for the North as they became the first region to win both competitions.
