Durham Cricket Announce A Top Entertainment Line-up For Chester-le-EATS

Sunderland singing sensation Jessie Dale who appeared on ITV show The Voice is set to take to the stage at a new food and drink event.

Chester-le-EATS is an event by Durham Cricket, being held on October 1st and 2nd, and the organisers have announced a line-up of food, fun, and music. Jessie, whose music career was thrust into the limelight following her stint on The Voice Kids UK – where she reached the battle round as part of Danny Jones’s team – will be performing as The Jessie Dale Band at the festival on Saturday October 1st.

The Jessie Dale Band is just one of the many acts that have been announced, along with a whole host of other entertainment too.

Also featuring on Saturday is solo artist Lewis Curry. The North East vocalist, pianist and guitarist will be covering a range of Mowtown and soul as well as classic pop and rock hits.

Indie rock musician, James Berry, will feature on both Saturday and Sunday, with a repertoire of classics from down the years such as Bob Dylan, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Foo Fighters and Ocean Colour Scene

On Sunday, guests can expect to get their groove on to colourful, sax-driven funk-pop band PICNIC! as well as live acoustic looper, Rich Gilroy, whose one-man-band versions of hits from the 1960s to the 2010s are truly special and not to be missed.

Other entertainment at the event, which will host the region’s top street food and food producers, will include appearances from lions Chester and River – Durham Cricket’s mascots; face painting for the kids and plenty of selfie opportunities for the ‘gram.

Ythan Sale, Durham Cricket’s Event Manager, said: “We are really excited to announce such a fantastic line-up of entertainment, which we hope that along with seriously good food from the North East’s top producers, will be the key ingredients to the first ever Chester-le-EATS.

“Chester-le-EATS has been launched by us not only to provide a free family fun day out for all but to support local businesses and help boost the local economy after two years of not having any events due to COVID.

‘It comes after the success of Chester Fest, a community event which we held in 2019 which saw thousands flock to the venue. Chester-le-EATS aims to build on our excellent relationship with the local and wider community.

“With just four weeks to go until the event, we hope visitors are looking forward to it just as much as we are.”

As well as entertainment, visitors can expect a fantastic line-up of trader stalls and hot food vans offering a variety of food and drink.

Scream For Pizza, who were finalists in the British Street Food Awards and who were also published in ‘where to eat pizza’ by Phaidon, will be serving up slices of heaven with their delicious pizzas.

Having started their business during the first covid lockdown, The Seahorse Coffee Box will be providing all things coffee.

“We are mad about coffee, said founder Helen Gregory, “and try to bring different ways of making coffee to our customers.”

“We’ll be serving up a variety of coffees including Dalgona coffee, and we have perfected some great hot chocolates. We’ll also have pumpkin spiced lattes as well as hot spiced cider which we make ourselves. Our greatest passion is always coffee, which is at the heart of what we do and we use locally roasted, ethically sourced and sustainable coffees and have highly skilled baristas who love their art. You won’t get ‘just a coffee’ at The Seahorse, you will get a great coffee made just how it should be – and that tastes great!”

Also attending is Greek street food favourite, Phi Pie; street food veterans Spud Gun Loaded Fries; Caribbean faves The calabash Tree; The Geordie Banger Company; Churros Barcelona and DCC Events with their hog roast and Lebanese shawarma vans.

Visitors will also be able to pick up some North East produce from Calder’s Kitchen, which makes homemade traditional piccalilli and a range of chutneys; curry sauces from Spicy Monkey; sweet treats from Bake for the Soul and Le Mini Macaron; and a range of beers and spirits will also be available for purchase from the region’s brewers and distillers. Plus, much more.
