Durham back in red ball action as County Championship returns tomorrow

Durham return to County Championship cricket tomorrow when they host Glamorgan at Seat Unique Riverside (11:00am).

Having been in Vitality Blast action for over two weeks, Durham return to the red ball arena as they look to continue where they left off against Gloucestershire 21 days ago.

A 14 player squad has been named which includes Craig Miles who joins on a two match loan from Warwickshire and is in line to play to games against Glamorgan and Leicestershire.

Durham occupy the top spot in Division 2 with 105 points and will be looking to extend their lead at the top against a Glamorgan side who are fourth in the division with 66 points.

Campbell’s side last took on Glamorgan in April, a match they dominated until the rain resulted in match being a draw at Sophia Gardens.

Luke Robinson is named in Durham’s first class side for the first time this season and if selected he would make his red and white ball debuts in the space of a week.

Words from Nathan Sowter

“Most of the players who will be playing on Sunday travelled back from Leicester Friday night and then we’ve somehow got to get back in the red-ball mindset so we can keep our run going in that competition.

“We’ve been playing good cricket in the championship and now it’s about changing to red ball cricket after a few weeks of t20 cricket. We’ve started the season well overall so it’ll be nice to get back to winning in the championship.

“The scheduling this year doesn’t help. It’s pretty poor really. We’ve had back-to-back games in the Midlands and and then a four-day game starting on Sunday, there is no time to recover and practise your skills and everyone is fatigued but that’s the way it is.

Squad

David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick (C), Graham Clark, Craig Miles, George Drissell, Bas de Leede, Michael Jones, Alex Lees (VC), Stanley McAlindon, Ajaz Patel, Liam Trevaskis, Ben Raine, Ollie Robinson, Liam Robinson
