13 in contention to face Derbyshire at The Incora County Ground

Durham will be looking to build their lead at the top of the County Championship Division 2 table when they take on Derbyshire tomorrow at the The Incora County Ground, Derby.

Ryan Campbell has named a 13-player squad for round 10 of the County Championship which gets underway at 11am.

Durham occupy the top spot in Division 2 with 155 points and will be looking for their 6th win with the red ball. Derbyshire are yet to win in the County Championship this season with 5 draws and 3 defeats, sitting bottom of the table on 63 points.

Ben Raine and Matthew Potts are leading the way at the top of the Division 2 bowling ranks; with 41 wickets Ben Raine is the leading wicket taker in the country while Potts with 40 is one behind in second place.

Alex Lees is also up there in the batting statistics with 916 runs, 64 behind Derbyshire’s Leus du Plooy. The Derbyshire skipper is having a superb summer with the bat with 3 centuries to his name and averaging 108.78.

Words from Ryan Campbell

We’ve achieved a lot of firsts this season because we hadn’t won down at Gloucestershire. We’ve achieved a lot, which is exciting for this group of players.
The facts are that we’re here to win the competition and we want to be a positive team, and hopefully become one of the best sides in England. We’re getting there. We hadn’t played very well up to tea on day one, and Gloucestershire were on top.
That’s when you want good teams to show up and the next session and the following two days have been outstanding. You saw what Durham can do. We were 109 for four and Graham Clark stood up for us with Lees putting on a great partnership. We know how good a player Alex Lees is, scoring three hundreds in a row. He’s showing the way again if there’s an opening for an England opener. Our point of difference most of the year has been the quality of our fast bowling. Ben Raine, Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse and now Pretorius. We’re always going to back ourselves even on flat wickets to knock over teams.
Potts in his first spell was outstanding and that’s where the game was won. England’s loss is Durham’s gain. The good thing about Matthew is that he could have put his head down and cried, but he has come here and worked hard. All he can do to get back in the England team is take wickets and he did.”

Squad v Derbyshire [19-22 July]

David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick*, Brydon Carse, Graham Clark, Bas de Leede, George Drissell, Michael Jones, Alex Lees, Matt Parkinson, Migael Pretorius, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Ollie Robinson +,
