Ryan Campbell’s side sit top of Division 2 with 174 points currently leading Worcestershire by 40 points who sit second in the table.
Campbell has named a 12-player squad for Sunday’s fixture which includes the return of Matt Parkinson who is back at the club on loan from Lancashire.
Ben Raine, Graham Clark, Bas de Leede, Ollie Robinson and Matthew Potts have now returned from Hundred duty and are back in contention for Sunday’s fixture.
Brydon Carse is not available for selection following his call up to the England IT20 squad for their four-match series against New Zealand.
Durham last took on Sussex in the opening week of the County Championship season at Hove as Durham slipped two a 2-wicket defeat after Ollie Carter’s unbeaten 33 guided the hosts to a narrow victory. Victory for Sussex back in April has so far been their only red ball win of the campaign as they sit in fourth place with 113 points.
Words from Ryan Campbell
It’s been quite refreshing for everyone to get back together, the last 10 days or so have we have had some good training sessions, the squad have had some good red balls sessions so now we look forward to getting back underway on Sunday against Sussex.
Everyone is pretty much available for selection for next week, Carse is away with England and we are really proud of his selection, I think what he did the other night at home putting in a player of the match performance was outstanding and everyone at the club is really pleased.
For me as a coach I came here with one simple thing, to be the best team in the country and we wanted to play our brand of cricket which everyone enjoyed watching. We have done that well so far and we won’t be taking a back seat on that, we will come out these next three games with the same mindset and if we play well, everything else will take care of itself.
