13 in contention for Zimbabwe A first-class fixture to kick off pre-season

Durham begin their pre-season preparations tomorrow at Harare Sports Club when they take on Zimbabwe A in a three-day first-class fixture.

The match, which commences at 8am (GMT) will be the first of two red ball fixtures against Zimbabwe A and Durham’s first fixture on their pre-season tour of Zimbabwe.

A 13-player squad will be in contention tomorrow, as Durham will look to get their 2024 County Championship prep off to a winning start.

Callum Parkinson, Colin Ackermann and Haydon Mustard are all in line to make their Durham first-class debuts tomorrow having been included in the 13-player squad.

Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse have remained at home and will continue their preparations for the season at Seat Unique Riverside having spent a number of weeks in India with England Lions.

Brandon Glover (shoulder injury) has also not travelled to Zimbabwe and has started his rehabilitation after recently having shoulder surgery.

George Drissell has travelled to Zimbabwe but due to a hamstring strain is not available for selection for tomorrow’s fixture.

Alex Lees and Ollie Robinson who also spent the winter in India A with England Lions will fly out to Harare for the T20 leg of the tour along with Nathan Sowter who will also join the group.

Bas de Leede is currently with the Netherlands for their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures in Nepal. The series which has ODI’s against Nepal and Namibia finishes on Sunday 25th February and Bas will join up with the group ahead of the second three-day first-class fixture.
