Chance to Shine
Chance to Shine is a national charity on a mission to spread the power of cricket throughout schools and communities.
It takes cricket to new places and uses it to ignite new passions, teach vital skills, unite diverse groups, and educate young people from Cornwall to Cardiff to County Durham.
Since 2005 the Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline in cricket in state schools. Working in close partnership with all 39 County Cricket Boards, the charity sends specialist coaches into schools, once a week for six weeks, to support cricket coaching.
As well as the physical benefits of regular activity, the Chance to Shine progeamme uses cricket to teach children important key life skills that will help them beyond the playground. Through the values of cricket, children are taught about respect and fair play.
Cricket is also an effective way to develop skills like communication, leadership and perseverance that will benefit them throughout their life.
In Durham, Chance to Shine is delivered by us through our expert team of professional coaches.
With 15 years’ experience in delivering Chance to Shine in schools, our team have all the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure both you as a teacher and the children in your care, have a fantastic experience being involved in the Chance to Shine scheme.
